During the Easter Holidays in March, Chloe Ireland, 18, a 1st year Marketing, Communications and Advertising student from Sheffield Hallam University has completed one week’s work experience with CQ Strategic Marketing. Chloe accompanied Managing Director, Jackie Cook, to three client premises including Rollem in Tankersley, Barnsley, LBBC Group of companies in Stanningley, Leeds and Newburgh Precision in Rotherham.

CQ Strategic Marketing provides marketing strategy, planning, coaching and practical support tailored to the individual business. Based in Sheffield, South Yorkshire they provide ongoing support or one off projects to SME’s and business support organisations in local, national and international markets.

Jackie Cook, Managing Director of CQ Strategic Marketing said “Chloe has really added value to our team during her week’s experience.  Professional in her approach in client meetings, producing work of a high standard efficiently. She shows real commitment to a career in marketing.”

Rollem has developed an international reputation as leading print finishing equipment suppliers. They are renown for quality, productivity and reliability in their print finishing machines. Whilst at Rollem, Chloe spent the morning in the client’s office, managing their social media accounts, developing skills on Hootsuite. She also undertook market research and built a database of target clients for Rollem using her skills on Excel.

On Tuesday, Chloe attended a meeting with LBBC Beechwood about planning their presence at the national trade show, Subcon 2016. Alongside this, she also attended a meeting with the Managing Director of LBBC Group of companies about the branding of their new company; LBBC Resomation.

Newburgh Precision is a manufacturer of precision machined and fabricated engineering components and assemblies for all industrial sectors across the UK and overseas. Chloe accompanied Managing Director, Jackie Cook, to her office at Newburgh Precision’s premises.

During Chloe’s work experience, she also managed CQ Strategic Marketing, CQ 4 Small Biz and CQ Marketing Academy’s social media accounts, as well as creating target databases for CQ Strategic Marketing and CQ 4 Small Biz, gathering data of potential targets across the UK. She also produced directions to CQ Strategic Marketing’s new offices in Durham, Leeds and Birmingham for the company website and brochure. Chloe also updated the Brand Guidelines manual for CQ Strategic Marketing, now that the company has grown into four different brands, which involved updating many different documents and collating standards into one document.

Chloe Ireland said “This experience has given me a wider understanding of the marketing industry and has taught me many valuable skills in aspects such as managing marketing though social media, the development of brand guidelines, and putting together target databases. Not only this but by spending the week with Jackie, I have seen partly what it takes to manage a growing business”.
